NEWS:

I am sorry for the lateness of the newsletter but we had very bad net connections and today was the day we headed back north (we are halfway there now…) I can successfully report that there are many more cones this year than last year and many, many nesting sights and signs of few predators.

WHAT ARE THE BEST TIPS TO CREATE A TRUE COMMUNITY IN SECOND LIFE?
James Wagner Au – New World Notes

“Second Life has a passionate and active userbase, but as it’s grown in recent years, it’s felt less and less like a community. A unified community was supplanted by many sub-communities, often cloistered off from the rest of the world. This is to be expected to a certain extent (real world cities of Second Life’s size don’t feel like communities either), but unlike real life, there are ways to tweak your user experience, so a feeling of community is fostered.”

The article also references Carrie Lexington’s How to Build Community in Second Life – a lovely article on creating community. Luckily, we have a great community and know how to keep it alive and viable. I wish Carrie would have seen us in the beginning and how much we have grown during the time we have been here.
