There were some tense moments as protesters formed up their ranks to protest the closing of the Coffee Shop in Eder Gira. SkydiverPeni Fall said she and granelda would reopen the coffee shop finally. A sigh of relief was heard around the plaza… Some of the protesters were caught on camera:

The stories are in Second Life in Tsahno’s Bevin on SUnday Nights at 10:00PM SL time, and are retold on the following Saturday night at 10:00PM cavern timein MOULa in Tsahno’s Bevin. The Sunday night Stories in SL are told in text, and the Saturday night stories are told in voice.

Sadly, some of the early events started up in MOULa seemed to have petered out for various reasons…. Not surprisingly, the traditions we took away and brought back seem to be going strong in both places… I will continue to watch for events such as Uru University, the DREAC and others who showed such promise in the beginnning. I have sincere hopes that some will step up to the plate and continue to step up. We can’t all be spectators, some have to be players…get involved, make things happen or MOULa will be another dream again.

The RULES
1) All prizes in this hunt must be something original and not a freebie.

This Saturday night The Frank Lloyd Wright Virtual Museum is proud to officially unveil two new houses to the museum grounds!
Herbert and Katherine Jacobs Residence
The first is a rebuild of the Jacobs 1 house, located in Madison, Wisconsin was built for Herbert and Katherine Jacobs and finished in 1937. The First Jacobs residence is significant in the life and works of Frank Lloyd Wright as it is the first of many Wright designs that came to be known as Usonian. The origin of “Usonian” is generally attributed to Wright as a term that expressed his democratic and communal ideals, standing for United States of North America, which later came to mean “a dwelling of and for the United States.” Our Second Life Recreation is located in the space where the original Jacobs 1 residence was located and was created by:

Pope-Leighey House
The second addition is the Loren B Pope residence, located in Falls Church, Virginia. Currently known as the Pope-Leighey House, the home was originally built in Fairfax County, Virginia between 1938 and 1939 at a cost of $7000 for the Loren Pope family. In 1946, the Pope family sold the home to Robert and Marjorie Leighey. In 1963, Leighey received notice that the home was to be torn down to make room for Interstate 66. She donated the home to the National Trust for Historic Preservation and they moved it to 9000 Richmond Highway, Alexandria, Virginia, on the site of the Woodlawn Plantation. Leighey resided in the home from 1969 until her death in 1983. The Usonian house was planned and built between 1938 and 1939. The home was constructed of Tidewater red cypress, brick, and glass, with a flat-roof that was created as a prototype of well-designed space for middle-income people. The interior featured many types of versatile furniture that was designed by Wright.

Please plan to join us this Saturday evening as we will be providing special guided tours of the homes for our Friend, Fellow and Patron supporting members from 5 to 6 PM SLT (Memberships will be available at the event). This will be followed at 6 PM by a special Saturday edition of our regular Friday Night Fling which will be held under the lights in the backyard of the Pope-Leighey House which is open to everyone. Both homes will be open for visiting and everyone is encouraged to explore them at your leisure.
