Info on note

If you’ve been following the Developments in Devokan thread on MOUL or the blog at http://blog.devokan.net you will have seen that the Devokan team is currently in transition to a new set of regions on the OSgrid.

As a result, two large plots of land, each 6144 m^2 with a prim allowance of 1406 prims, on the beautifully themed Winterfell Reverie island will become available in late March/early April.

Winterfell Reverie is part of the Winterfell group of eleven fantasy medieval sims and three fantasy Tudor/Elizabethan/Victorian sims. To quote the covenant: ‘Winterfell is a twilight fantasy region designed and inspired by stories, dreams and creative interpretations of reality.’ More details about Winterfell (including the covenant) are on its ning site at http://winterfell.ning.com .

Winterfell is to the north of Caledon, so it makes an ideal base for exploration by the extensive waterways (both plots have direct access to river or sea) or by air. Indeed, a ferry system is currently under development to serve the Winterfell community and even reach Caledon Cape Wrath.

If desired, existing buildings could be left on the land (e.g. Rustica Seaside Cottage and Skye Castles Gothic Keep) for people to furnish as they wish. They are lovely buildings, and work well with the island’s architectural theme.

The rent/tier is 3000 L$ per week, payable to a tier box in the Winterfell Estate Office. The estate owner is the helpful and obliging Miss Serra Anansi.

If you are interested or would like more details, please contact Dot Macchi before 24 March. Thanks!

====
PS It’s such a lovely area that I shall be staying here, but in a smaller corner plot. Dot.

SPRING CLEANING
Riana Eiren
We know we eventually have to do it….Riana has some great tips on how to do it.

How much do you know about the history of Spring Cleaning? I wasn’t sure, so I looked it up. I was surprised by some of what I found. Did you know that up to four cultures are responsible for its origins, and that science shows that some of us are compulsive hoarders? Read on….

In times past, when people kept their houses shut tight against the cold of winter, heated them with coal and oil and wood, and lighted them with candles, the coming of spring signaled a welcome opportunity to make a dingy habitation fresh again. On the first warm, dry day of the season, everybody in the family—that is, everyone in the family who had survived the ravages of the cold season—would pitch in to pull every stick of furniture and scrap of cloth outside. Then, armed with brooms and washrags, one squad of housecleaners would return to the house, sweeping and scrubbing every corner and washing down the walls, while another would air out linens, remove soot and ash from couches and chairs, dust books and paintings, and mend a few items on the run.

Gregory McNamee – April 16th, 2008

http://www.britannica.com/blogs/2008/04/spring-cleaning/

It’s that time of year again! Spring! Flowers blooming, nicer weather, lighter clothing…and–spring cleaning? Noooo, you say? You wouldn’t venture into your inventory without the National Guard and a GPS?  Here are some tips to shine a light into that dark cavern and maybe help to shrink that terrifying monster.
1. Don’t take on your entire inventory at once. It’s unrealistic to think you can clean it all up in an hour; you took longer to accumulate it, didn’t you?
“““““““““““““““““““““““““““““““““““““““
*Protip* Pace yourself. You know what you can handle; a folder, an object, or maybe just one thing at a time when you use it, putting it where it goes when you put it back. Progress is progress; every little bit adds up!
——————————————————————————-
2. The search function is a life-saver–it even saves some of us from organizing our inventories for indefinite lengths of time (yay procrastination!)–but have you ever used it to *locate* items in your inventory? It’s easy; simply highlight the item once search brings it up, and then backspace the search field so the rest of your inventory will show. So *that’s* where you put it!
——————————————————————————-
*Protip* Think: Where will I look for this later? Don’t forget to move the item to where you’ll look for it the next time you want it!
——————————————————————————-
3. Delete old newsletters, correspondence, store updates–any old notecards you don’t need anymore.
*Protip* If you’re not certain about some, make a folder and put all of them in there for at least a month. If you haven’t needed/used them in that time, you probably won’t.
——————————————————————————-
*Protip* Can’t bring yourself to delete old notecards? If you are absolutely insecure without them and they are trans, send them to your alt. Make sure your alt has them, and then delete them from your main’s inventory. Then you still have them (you can always send them back to your main if you need to) but you also have a clean inventory! 😉
——————————————————————————-
4. Think about how you handle your “mail:” do you get an accumulation of notecards and then spend time looking through them to find events, newsletters, store or other info? Try making trial folders with names that you think you might use, and see if they work for you. You can always change!
