Info on Note

URU Cavern Skydivers moved here when URU game shut down 2 years ago.   Now the URU game is back up and running most of us have rejoined our friends there too.
Our place here in Bestone was a home for all of the ppl that came from URU to SL.  From there we scattered to other areas in SL. Bestone even developed into a rental property to support the acivities of URU Cavern Skydiver Competitions and donations to URU places such as Eder Gira.  It is time for Bestone to move on as all of us have.

The property will be sold and and any profits will be donated to Eder Gira
as no individual in the group can make a profit from the sale.

To our Renters,  Thank You for your loyalty to us over the last 2 yrs…
Your rent is free for the next 45 days or , until you find a new place to live.

512 Donations:  Pls wait to take them back until the property has been sold.  Unless you are a renter that has donated a 512 and need it for a free house in SL

The property will be sold and and any profits will be donated to Eder Gira
as no individual in the group can make a profit from the sale.

Available late March/early April

If you’ve been following the Developments in Devokan thread on MOUL or the blog at you will have seen that the Devokan team is currently in transition to a new set of regions on the OSgrid.

As a result, two large plots of land, each 6144 m^2 with a prim allowance of 1406 prims, on the beautifully themed Winterfell Reverie island will become available in late March/early April.

Winterfell Reverie is part of the Winterfell group of eleven fantasy medieval sims and three fantasy Tudor/Elizabethan/Victorian sims. To quote the covenant: ‘Winterfell is a twilight fantasy region designed and inspired by stories, dreams and creative interpretations of reality.’ More details about Winterfell (including the covenant) are on its ning site at .

Winterfell is to the north of Caledon, so it makes an ideal base for exploration by the extensive waterways (both plots have direct access to river or sea) or by air. Indeed, a ferry system is currently under development to serve the Winterfell community and even reach Caledon Cape Wrath.

If desired, existing buildings could be left on the land (e.g. Rustica Seaside Cottage and Skye Castles Gothic Keep) for people to furnish as they wish. They are lovely buildings, and work well with the island’s architectural theme.

The rent/tier is 3000 L$ per week, payable to a tier box in the Winterfell Estate Office. The estate owner is the helpful and obliging Miss Serra Anansi.

If you are interested or would like more details, please contact Dot Macchi before 24 March. Thanks!

PS It’s such a lovely area that I shall be staying here, but in a smaller corner plot. Dot.

Riana Eiren

Riana sent me a goodly amount of quality freebies/cheapie info so I will be featuring these for a while… take advantage of all her hard work here and make sure you send her a thanks! Here are her notes to what she writes:

“Nothing ordinary or low quality here! Symbols to know: = separates sims; ~~ separates boards or chairs; **means new area in new sim; *means new store or chair; MM means Midnight Mania; SD means Slap N Dash; LC means Lucky Chair”

**Rego Park , *LC, 30 min. I got a set of variously colored capris. The next prize was a “Certainly Cher” satin minidress in “berries.”
*In the store right behind the chair, “Michigan’s Shack” there’s a camping chair with a wide choice of prizes–I counted up to 45, all different, not just different colors. (though there were one or two of those as well.) I stopped counting at that point because I had no idea how many there were! Clothing sets were labeled worth $100-$150L and widely ranged in style from vamp to evening to conservative to club. All were of fine quality, even the grunge and destroyed. *MM also; lingerie, target 15.

Burners! Discard Winter at the Burning Life Spring Fling!
Friday, March 26 – Sunday March 28

Time to light lamps and drum drums! Time to dance the night and day away on two stages!  Time to Burn!

Take the time to carpe three awesome diems packed with stuff to check out…

>>> TWO PERFORMANCE STAGES!  One features a schedule of great LIVE PERFORMERS, the other features SL’s HOTTEST DJs. Get your hud on and get moving! You can see the schedules as google calendars online (urls below ) or you can check out the event boards outside each of the stages or in the infocenter. New stage builds by Rails Baily (DJ Stage) and Nyx Breen (Live Stage).    —    —-

>>> PORTA-POTTIES! Need we say more? A huge swath of the Playa has been set aside to display a huge collection of this long running BL tradition. No need to hold your nose, the ventilation is SL’s best.

>>> LAMPLIGHTERS! One of Burning Life’s proudest traditions continues with a new Lamplighter Village and lamp spires by the team of Kell Babenco, JeanBaptiste Eilde, Desdemona Enfield, Brigitte Kungler and Valley Parmelee. Drum. Light up the Playa. Regular processions and fire dancing. The general event calendar will let you know when. You know it. You love it. Be there.   —

>>> BURNIVERSITY! In cooperation with the University of Western Austrailia, our ongoing educational Burniversity series features artist Miso Susanowa speaking on her RL/SL collaborative work with Perth RL sculptor Len Zuks. Her recreation in SL of Len’s sculpture LIL’ EIZENSTEIN won the UWA – Artist Book Prize (1st) in February!   —   3pm SLT, Saturday, March 20th

>>> RANGERS! BL’s crew of helpers and sanity keepers will be around. Feel free to say hi or drop in at the Ranger station by Corvaire Wind in Gerlach for assistance.

>>>  MEDIA MECCA and INFOCENTER!  We’ve got a new infocenter built by Aeneas Beaumont. It’s packed with everything you need to know – a playa map, all the event boards (courtesy of CodeBastard Redgrave), new subscription boards (courtesy of Sasun Steinbeck) to mailing lists to save you group space and a stage for use by media looking for a spot to anchor their BL coverage. Got a question? The answer is probably there.

>>> CLASSICS! Stop in at the gates and check out the gift tent. If you’ve never hit the playa in one of the many zany modes of transport in the Department of Mutant Vehicles, now’s the time. Cruise through the outstanding “What is Burning Life?” exhibit by Poid Mahovlich.

Time to Burn! Spring Fling is part of the afterburn series of events, which occur year-round. For further information or media coordination, contact Raven Haalan, Communications Lead.

What:  M Linden’s Personal Art Show  – “Doodle Art”
When: Saturday, March 27th, 2010 at 3 PM SLT (US Pacific)

Where: Lawrence Wilson Art Gallery, University of Western Australia (UWA)

If you follow Second Life Arts, you know that the SL Art Community is full of surprises.  Today we are going to share with you one of the best kept SL secrets…

Linden Lab CEO Mark Kingdon (known in Second Life as M Linden) is an ARTIST!

M Linden Artist Statement

Born:  California, USA
Education:  BA Economics, University of California, Los Angeles;  MBA, University of Pennsylvania
Selected and Recent Exhibitions: My last exhibition when I was in college which was more years back than I care to admit.
Publications:  NA

Artist Statement:  From the time I was 6 years old until I was 20, I had planned to be a painter.  As I was contemplating graduating from college with a fine arts degree and all that being an artist entails, I decided to make a hard left turn and follow a radically different path. I changed my major to economics, graduated and went on to business school to get a graduate degree.  I doodle to focus my mind and I can do it for hours. But, I prefer doodles that I can complete in one short sitting.  I gravitate to repetitive constructs of unbroken intersecting lines or interconnected parallelograms…you could call them “dynamic connected systems.”  I guess my art and my interest in economics shared this “connected systems” construct.

Drawing in 3D in Second Life wonderful. I can think bigger and do more in Second Life.  It’s changed the way I think about art.
Oliver Wendell Holmes, Sr. said it best:  “Every now and then a man’s mind is stretched by a new idea or sensation, and never shrinks back to its former dimensions.”
M Linden Bio

Mark Kingdon | CEO

Mark Kingdon joined Linden Lab in May 2008 as Chief Executive Officer. Mark leads the day-to-day management and operations of the company, working closely alongside Linden Lab founder, former CEO and current Chairman Philip Rosedale. Prior to joining Linden Lab, Mark served as Chief Executive Officer of Organic Inc. a leading digital communications agency, building its reputation as a groundbreaking, innovative provider of user-centered design. While at Organic, Mark built the company’s social media and social computing services and launched the company’s emerging platforms practice. Prior to Organic, Kingdon worked with idealab!, providing strategic guidance and operational support to emerging companies. Before that, Mark was a partner with the consulting division of PricewaterhouseCoopers, LLP (PwC), where he held a variety of senior roles throughout his twelve-year tenure. He received an MBA from the Wharton School of Business and a BA in Economics from UCLA.

Now that the secret is out, the University of Western Australia (UWA) is proud to announce the grand opening of M Linden’s first solo art exhibition in Second Life.  This truly special event will showcase virtual editions of sixteen drawings selected from Mark’s collection of doodles as well as two SL sculptures created by M Linden specifically for this show.

* M Linden RL Art Show at the University of Western Australia *
In addition to this exciting SL event, the University of Western Australia is thrilled to announce a real life showing of M Linden’s work at the UWA campus on Friday, March 26th.

The RL event will be hosted by award winning West Australian artist Len Zuks  (  Len has collaborated with Miso Susanowa to breathe a fresh second life into his sculptures, ‘Megabyte’ and ‘Lil Eizenstein’, in a first ever RL/SL collaboration between American and West Australian artists. His RL sculptures will stand alongside M Lindens works!

Commenting on M’s works, Len said:
“It is not 10 minutes since my eyes first beheld an image of one of Mark Kingdon’s artworks. I had been in discussion with Jayjay for several weeks on this anticipatory moment. If I had seen any other illustration, it would have been of a lesser impact. The unexpected image and the subsequent revealing insights was an unequivocal surprise. It is as if I had bypassed the artist’s eyes and had a glimpse into the mechanism of the artist’s mind. Wow! ”

The Follow will embark on perhaps the most eco-friendly world tour that a band has ever attempted. Through the virtual world of Second Life, the Columbia, Missouri trio will perform their Panoramic Rock in five countries during one day. The shows begin at 6:00 AM for the Midwestern band and end after 11:00 PM taking the band on a whirlwind tour of planet Earth.

Influenced by U2, Radiohead, and Pink Floyd, The Follow have enjoyed sharing stages with various artists such as Plain White T’s, Billy Corgan’s Zwan, & Gravity Kills. With six albums, one DVD, and hundreds of live performances, The Follow received airplay on college and commercial radio across North America while supporting the releases by touring in the United States and Europe.

The band entered the virtual world of Second Life (SL) in 2009 as way to continue touring while protecting the environment, not to mention their wallets! The band members drive a Honda Insight hybrid to the broadcast location, they use energy-efficient LED lights for their show environment, and most distribution to national and international radio & press is accomplished digitally eliminating plastic CDs, paper envelops, and transportation resources.

Their accessible brand of radio-friendly rock and amazing live shows, that have been called “a spiritual experience”, placed them on the fast track to success inside SL. The Follow is now hailed the biggest band “in world”.

The World Tour in a Day is on Friday, March 26th and will allow the band to perform to people in Australia, India, Italy, Brazil, and the United States between 6am and 9pm Central Time. The tour is supported in part by “The Disaster Zone”, an innovative disaster awareness project that will assist in planning and preparing for real disasters with virtual worlds. The project was created by the Catastrophic Planning and Management Institute in cooperation with Linden Lab. (

Best friends formed a band in High School called The Follow that has endured two decades. The driving force behind the band is their friendship and the spiritual connection that they have with the music. This band grabs your heart and your soul. They celebrate with you, they cry with you, they will shout with you, they rock with you! With the help of technology, they are bringing their passion to the entire world while also saving it. Go global. Go green. Go Global Green!

The Follow

Amy Rickertsen – Bass/Vocals

RECOMMENDED FOR FANS OF:  U2, Coldplay, Snow Patrol, Longwave, Radiohead, & Keane

This Panoramic Rock trio from Columbia, Missouri, US have carved their career from the College Radio Charts in North America to touring in Europe. Their latest CD, MIXTURES – THE REMIXES, features electro-rock mixes of songs from their previous five albums, Seveneverend, Origins, nowaitingplease, Lost Sessions, and their latest commercial radio hit CD, Up With The Sun!

2010 is already shaping up to be a banner year for the band with the release of their FIRST live DVD concert film. On September 18th, 2009, the band performed a live concert in RL that was broadcast in world via a 9-camera video mix. The live audience also saw the video feed on one set of screens, PLUS an SL camera view on a second pair of projections. It made for an amazing evening of energy & emotion. You can experience the show with the ROCK FOR KENT DVD available in April 2010. Visit for video samples and to donate to Troy’s brother, Kent (who has been diagosed with ALS – Lou Gehrig’s disease).

The Follow’s sincerity and commitment to explore internal issues with an original sound allows the band to be completely universal and addicting. Besides, any band that has a statue of Jesus on the cover of an album that neither mentions Him nor thanks Him in the credits begs to be explored further. If you wondered what happened to bands that search for a deeper meaning and some sort of fresh musical identity, simply look to The Follow.
